Current market value for a bottle of Pétrus

While walking through the village of St. Émilion yesterday, I came across one of the few wine shops opened on a Sunday during the “off season”. Understanding allocations of Ch. Pétrus are hard to come by, I was honestly a bit surprised to see several retail stores selling it (again, there weren’t that many stores opened to begin with).

So, given this information, I draw the simple conclusion that if you’re looking to buy a bottle of  Ch. Pétrus, just come to St. Émilion and be prepared to open your wallet.

Here’s the price list—again, per bottle—at one wine shop for several vintages (note: prices are in Euros “ht” or hors taxes = taxes excluded):

  1. I was in Saint E yesterday. Tastings and meetings. As it was pouring down with rain a French colleague just shrugged and said ‘F…ing English weather’. His English is improving no end.
    Interesting blog. Keep it going.
